Mr Ricker was born in Berwick, Maine, Sept. 28th, 1809; he maried Miss Eliza Sherburne, Oct. 29th, 1835, who preceeded her husband to the spiritland March 11th, 1884. In the fall of 1855 moved to Minnesota and became one of the pioneer farmers of Otsego, and resided there until three years ago, when he and his family became residence of our little village and while living here won the respect and love of all who knew him. For more than fifty years he has trusted in the Savior, and thirty-five years ago there was a new class formed in Bangor, Me. of the M. E. church, and he, and his estimable wife, were among the first to join, and he has ever since been an earnest worker for the Master, being a Christian in every walk of life. He was a kind and faithful husband; an affectionate and indulgent father, a good neighbor and kind and poor. During the long time he has suffered he has frequently expressed himself as being ready to go home when the Lord called. He has been patient(not readable for a sentance)...of Mr Ricker the community suffers no common loss and the church has lost a loved and honored member. He leaves one son and two daughters, and to them the loss is irreparable. They have the sympathy and love of the entire community. A few days before he fell asleep in Jesus, Rev. David Brooks visited him and he requested him to preach his funeral sermon from Psa. 28.4. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Thursday morning at 11 o'clock.
