ALBECK (1905) Nels M. Albeck, a farmer of Hazel Run township, is the owner of 160 acres on section 27, where he has a good farm and home and where he has resided since 1905. Mr. Albeck was born in Sweden November 4, 1868, and is a son of Pere and Elne Jacobson, both of whom are still living on the old home farm in Sweden, which they have sold to one of their boys. Nels Albeck grew up on the farm in Sweden and was there educated. His boyhood days were spent helping his parents. At the age of twenty years he came to the United States, settling first in Wisconsin, and for the next ten years was most of the time engaged in the lumber business at Eau Claire. He also did some contract work during that period. In 1899 he came to Minnesota, locating at Minneapolis, where he was employed in the Milwaukee railroad shops. In the spring of 1908 Mr. Albeck came to Yellow Medicine county and for four years farmed the Tollef Tollefson 193 acres in Hazel Run township, located just west of his present home. He purchased his present farm in the spring of 1911, the farm being known as the old Brecke farm, since which date he has lived there. In addition to grain growing, he also raises some cattle and hogs for market. Mr. Albeck was married July 22, 1905, at the home of the bride's father in Sandnes township, to Martina Tollefson, who is a native of Yellow Medicine county, having been born in Sandnes township August 3, 1872. She is a daughter of Tollef Tollefson, one of the earliest settlers of that section of the county. Mr. and Mrs. Albeck have two children: Paul Titus, born June 1, 1910, and Enoch Seme, born May 29, 1912. Source: A History of Yellow Medicine County by Arthur P. Rose. Published 1914.
