Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: LaNaye Hennen BERT S. AAS (1884) Bert S. Aas is a native born son of Yellow Medicine county. He rents and farms a half of section 15, Lisbon township. The birth date of Mr. Aas is May 24, 1884. His father, Ole Aas, was a native of Norway and came to the United States in 1873, first locating in Goodhue county, Minnesota, where he lived one year. He came to Yellow Medicine county in 1874 and located on the southeast quarter of section 15, Lisbon township. A little later he purchased the adjoining quarter, giving him a half section, and there he lived and farmed until his death, which occurred in 1908. The mother Ambjer (Dokken) Aas, is also a native of Norway. She makes here home on the old farm in Lisbon. Bert S. Aas was educated in the schools of Yellow Medicine county. At the age of twenty-one years he went to North Dakota, where he farmed a few years. In 1910 he returned to Yellow Medicine county and has since lived on the old home place. He and the family are members of the Norwegian Lutheran church of Stony Run. Mr. Aas was married December 4, 1912, to Martina Sorem, who is also a native of Yellow Medicine county.
