Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: LaNaye Hennen CHRIST IVERSON (1899) Christ Iverson, owner of 240 acres of Yellow Medicine county land, the same being the northwest quarter and the north half of the southwest quarter of section 23, Sioux Agency township, is a native born son of Minnesota. His birth place is about one mile from the Yellow Medicine county line in Swede Forest township, Redwood county, --where on June 16, 1873, he was ushered into existence. Mr. Iverson's parents are natives of Norway. Taral Iverson, the father, came to the United States at the age of twenty-one years, in 1861, and first located in Adams county, Wisconsin. He was one of the pioneers of Redwood county, taking up his home there in 1868. He and his wife, who was Elena Christopherson, are still living and make their home in Swede Forest township, Redwood county. Christ Iverson spent his boyhood on his father's farm in Swede Forest township and was educated in the school of district No. 5 of his native township. He worked for his father on the farm until 1899, when he bought his present home place in Sioux Agency township. At the time he bought the farm it was raw prairie except twenty acres. He has since made all the improvements, erected the house, barns, set out a good sized grove, etc. Mr. Iverson is clerk of school district No. 93 and has served since 1900; he was a member of the Sioux Agency township board of supervisors eight years. He is a stockholder of the Farmers Elevator Company of Echo and also of the one at Belview. He is a member of Rockdale Norwegian Lutheran Church of Swede Forest township. Mr. Iverson was married June 9, 1897, in Swede Forest township, to Bertha Anderson, who was born in that township July 4, 1877. She is a daughter of A. K. Anderson; both parents are dead. To Mr. and Mrs. Iverson have been born the following children: Elmer, July 6, 1898; Arle, July 4, 1903; Ervin, May 1, 1908; Cora, March 1, 1900; Tina, November 25, 1901; Gertina, March 15, 1906; Wilsie, July 6, 1910.
