Hanson, proprietor of a Canby drug store, has lived in Yellow Medicine county since he was five years of age and has been connected with the drug business in Canby since he was twelve years old. He has a good business and is rated among the successful young business men of the west end city. The father of our subject, Mikkel Hanson, was born in Norway and came to the United States in 1862. He lived a few years in Wisconsin and later located in Cook county, Illinois. He came to Yellow Medicine county in 1883, and died here in 1900. The mother of our subject, Jacobina (Johnson) Hanson, was born in Sweden but lived in Norway after three years of age and was married there. She now makes her home with her daughter, Mrs. P. Unlee, in Canby. George E. Hanson was born to these parents in Cook county, Illinois, December 18, 1877. Accompanying his parents to Yellow Medicine county in 1883, he has since made his home here. At the age of twelve years he began working in a Canby drug store and was so employed until 1901. Then he engaged in the business for himself, conducted a store five or six years, and then purchased his present place and combined the two businesses. Mr. Hanson served as president of the city council two years and was a member of the board of aldermen two years. He holds membership in the Masonic and Modern Woodmen lodges. The marriage of Mr. Hanson to Vida M. Gilberson occurred October 29, 1902. His wife is a native of the county. The have one child, G. Wallace, born June 24, 1904.
