Hardy is the owner of 300 acres of Yellow Medicine county soil--240 acres on the east half of section 32, where the buildings are located, and sixty acres on the southwest quarter of section 33, Minnesota Falls township. Mr. Hardy is a native of Norway and was born March 5, 1872. His parents were Jens and Serina Hardy, who lived and died on the old home farm in Norway. Ole J. Hardy grew to young manhood and was educated in the schools of Norway, attending English school for a short time after coming to the United States. He crossed the water when he was seventeen years of age, going direct to Hanley Falls, in Yellow Medicine county. A sister Serina, accompanied his to this country but returned to Norway after four years residence here. For a couple of years after his arrival, Ole Hardy worked for his brothers, who had preceded him to the United States a few years, and on coming of age he worked out for others. In 1897 he secured the 240-acre farm on section 32. There he has since lived, now having one of the finest farms in the county. He has magnificent improvements, including a large two-story residence and other buildings in keeping with it. He raises Shorthorn cattle and Poland China hogs. Mr. Hardy has been treasurer of his school board for the past fourteen years. He is a member of the Norwegian Lutheran church of Hanley Falls. Mr. Hardy was married March 12, 1897, at the home of the bride's parents in Wood Lake township, to August Gilbertson, a native of Houston county, Minnesota. Her parents were among the early settlers of Yellow Medicine county. Mr. and Mrs. Hardy have three children--Mabel, Amy and Fred. Source: "A History of Yellow Medicine County" by Arthur P.
