IMES Ole K. Imes, of Sioux Agency township, owns and farms the north half of the northeast quarter of section 4. Mrs. Imes and a sister also own 120 acres in Renville county. Ole K. was born on the place which he now conducts February 13, 1888. His parents as Iver and Rakel (Halvorson) Imes, both natives of Norway. Iver Imes was born in 1854 and lived in Norway until twenty-five years of age, most of the time working on a farm. Then for five or six years he was a sailor and for a time followed the fishing industry. He came to the United States in 1882, coming direct to Yellow Medicine county and taking a pre-emption claim of eighty acres on section 4, Sioux Agency township. There he lived for twenty-seven years and then moved to his present home of forty acres on the Minnesota river on sections 27 and 34. He was married in Stavanger, Norway, in 1877. He and his wife are members of Rock Valley Norwegian Lutheran church of Sioux Agency township. Ole K. Imes spent his boyhood on the farm he now owns and received a district school education. In 1908 he went to Granville, McHenry county, North Dakota, and spent eight months working on a farm. Returning to Yellow Medicine county, he rented the home place one year, after which he again went to McHenry county and worked seven months. He then went to Duluth, Minnesota, where he took a four months' engagement in the woods. Again returning to Yellow Medicine county, he bought the old home place in 1912 and has since been engaged in its operation. He is a member of Rock Valley Norwegian Lutheran church of Sioux Agency township. Mr. Imes was married March 31, 1912, in Renville county, to Theoline Agre, who was born in Renville county, Minnesota, September 29, 1882. They have one child, Myrtle Henrietta, born June 8, 1913.
