Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: LaNaye Hennen ALFRED JACOBSON (1884) Alfred Jacobson, a farmer of Friendship township, has from birth been a resident of Yellow Medicine county, his natal day being December 16, 1884. He owns and farms 200 acres of land--eighty acres on section 31 and 120 acres on section 32. Mr. Jacobson grew up on the farm and was educated in the schools of Yellow Medicine county. At the age of fifteen years he began to work out at farm labor, following that for several years--in the falls working with threshing rigs, being engaged as engineer several seasons. He rented a farm in 1907 and for three years operated it in partnership with a brother. He then rented another place, which he operated two years, after which he bought the place he has since made his home. He has erected a set of buildings on it; at the time of his purchase there was only one building. Mr. Jacobson and family belong to the Norwegian Lutheran church of Spring Creek. He is justice of the peace of Friendship township. Anna Thorhaug was married to Mr. Jacobson June 5, 1907, at Spring Creek. She was born in Jackson county, Minnesota, where her parents resided four years before moving to Yellow Medicine county in 1890. They have three children, born on the following dates: Irene L., June 25, 1908; Alice B., March 30, 1910; Willard M., February 27, 1912. Mr. Jacobson's parents were natives of Iowa and Wisconsin, respectively. His father, Olaf Jacobson, was born in Iowa, coming to Yellow Medicine county in 1873 and locating on a farm. The mother, Anna (Helgeson) Jacobson, was born in Wisconsin, coming to Minnesota in early life, where she was married. Mrs. Jacobson's parents were born in Dane county, Wisconsin, moved to Jackson county, Minnesota, in 1886, and four years later came to Yellow Medicine county.
