Waller has a two hundred sixty acre farm on section 34 of the fraction of Sioux Agency township, close to the Minnesota river. He has a nice home and is one of the prosperous farmers of the precinct. In the land of the midnight sun, on February 18, 1859, John N. Waller first saw the light of day. He comes from a long-lived family. His father, Nels Waller, lived to the age of ninety-seven years, and died in Pierce county, Wisconsin, in 1911; his mother, Helena Waller, died in 1902 at the age of seventy-seven years. Our subject resided in his native land until thirteen years of age and in 1872 he came with his parents to America. The family home was made in Redwing, Minnesota, where John lived until 1878, working out. He then left home and came to Yellow Medicine County. He spent one summer operating a farm in Sioux Agency owned by a man residing in Redwing. In the fall of 1878 Mr. Waller went to Cass county, North Dakota. There he took a homestead, farmed it four years, and then sold his homestead right and returned to Yellow Medicine county. Upon his return he was married and for a few months resided on a farm near the Redwood county line. Mr. Waller then purchased a farm two miles north of Echo, where he resided until 1900. During the next six or seven years he owned and operated a small farm on the river and then purchased his present place. Mr. Waller and his family are members of Rock Valley Norwegian Lutheran church of Sioux Agency. Andrea Sander became the wife of Mr. Waller January 23, 1883, the ceremony being performed in Sioux Agency township. Mrs. Waller is a daughter of Ole and Annie Sander and was born in Norway September 2, 1861. The family came to the United States in 1870. Ten children has been born to the union, named as follows: Annie (Mrs. Ole Lecy), of Sioux Agency; Nannie (Mrs. Martin Kringle), of North Dakota; Carrie (Mrs. Ingwald Iverson), of Echo; Hilda (Mrs. Chester Berger), of Minnesota Falls township; Oscar, Alfred, John, Carl (deceased), and Ingwald (deceased).
