The birthplace of Mr. Larson is Norway, where, on May 13, 1866, he came into being. He is a son of Lars and Karn (Christianson) Amundson. The father died in Sioux Agency township January 30, 1913; the mother still lives there. Andy lived in Norway until sixteen years of age. In 1882 he immigrated to the United States with his parents, coming direct to Yellow Medicine county. On arrival the father bought the south half of the southeast quarter of section 4, Sioux Agency township, which was ever afterward his home. For about six years after coming to the county, Andy worked out for neighboring farmers and on the railroad section at Wood Lake. He then returned tot he home farm, and he and his father ran the place in partnership. One year after locating there Andy bought the northwest quarter of section 22, Sioux Agency township, a place which he still owns. At the time of purchase there were no improvements of any kind-all raw prairie. Andy lives on the old home place, which is owned by the father's estate, and farms that as well as his own land on section 22. Mr. Larson is a stockholder of the Farmers Elevator Company of Echo and is one of the directors. For about sixteen years he was chairman of the Sioux Agency township board of supervisors. For the past six years he has been treasurer of school district No. 65. He is a member of the United Lutheran church of Sioux Agency township. Mr. Larson has been twice married. In the spring of 1889, in Sioux Agency township he was married to Mathea Knutson, who was born July 31, 1871. She died September 26, 1900. Three children were born to this union, namely: Christ, who lives in Yellow Medicine county; Tilla, at home; and Lena (Mrs. Carl Sandstrom), of Renville county. His second marriage was solemnized at Maynard, Minnesota, on December 8, 1903, when he was united to Karn Urdahl, who was born in Norway October 15, 1878. They have four children, born as follows: Martin, June 17, 1904; Ole, January 17, 1906; Josie, August 2, 1908; and Iver, April 17, 1912. Source: A History of Yellow Medicine County by Arthur P.
