Mr. Larson was born in Norway, six miles south of the city of Bergen, April 12, 1838. His parents were Lars and Annie (Johannes) Christianson, who died in the old country--the father when Christ was only five years old. Christ Larson was brought up and educated in Norway, living there until 1864. His later years in the old country were employed as a fisherman and a sailor. He came to the United States in 1864, leaving Bergen April 17 and arriving in Quebec five weeks later. He lived in Winneshiek county Iowa, until 1878, working out at farm labor a number of years, but during the last nine years of his residence there being employed at railroad work on the Chicago, Milwaukee, & St. Paul. Mr. Larson came to Yellow Medicine county in 1878 and made settlement in Lisbon township, on land which was in dispute between the government and the railway company. That place he improved, and on it he made his home until his death, which occurred October 22, 1913. After the Minneapolis & St. Louis railroad was built through Yellow Medicine county, Mr. Larson again took up railroad work for a time, being section foreman at Clarkfield five years and at Boyd four years. He was a member of the Norwegian Lutheran church of Clarkfield. Mr. Larson was married March 13, 1864, in Norway, just before starting for the United States, to Brita Peterson, who was born December 1839. Seven children have been born to them, namely: Anna Christina, Lars Johan, Anna, Peter Olai, Albert Martin, Serene Christense, and Bent Cornelius. All of the children except the youngest, Bent Cornelius, who lives at home and conducts the farm, are deceased. Source: A History of Yellow Medicine County by Arthur P. Rose, Publ. 1914
