Lilleby, whose home farm is on section 4, Granite Falls township, Chippewa county, has been a resident there for twenty-six years. He was born in Nicollet county, Minnesota, November 8, 1857, and lived on his father's farm there until four years of age. During the Indian outbreak of 1862 the family moved to St. Peter, where they lived until Albert was thirteen years of age. The family then moved to Renville county, where Albert grew to manhood on the home farm, living there eighteen years. At the age of twenty-one years he homesteaded eighty acres of land five miles north of Renville, making his home on the place nine years.He sold out in 1888 and moved to Granite Falls, Chippewa county, where he lived eight years. Then he bought a quarter section of land on section 4, Granite Falls township, and has ever since resided at that point. He has one of the well improved farms of his township and county. Besides his farming interests Mr. Lilleby also deals in real estate--in Red River Valley lands in Becker and Clay counties. Mr. Lilleby was married in McLeod county, Minnesota, December 28, 1880, to Matilda Enerson, who was born in Norway and came to the United States when two years of age, locating in Goodhue county, Minnesota. She is a daughter of Peter and Carrie Enerson. Mr. and Mrs. Lilleby have had eight children (six of whom are living), as follows: Nora C., (Mrs. Olause Beito), of Chippewa county; Palmer K., deceased; Clarence P., deceased; Clara R., Maurice E., Arnold T., Louis C. and Edna L. Mr. Lilleby is a member of the Masonic order of Granite Falls. He has been a member of the school board of district No. 86 for the past four years. Albert K. is a son of Emil and Caroline (Lockin) Lilleby, both born in Norway. They came to the United States in 1856, locating in Nicollet county, Minnesota. They were married in Ramsey county. Both are dead, he having died on February 28, 1906, and she on March 25, 1909. Seven children are living, namely: Sophia Armstrong, Anna Mason, Hannah Engby and Telia McReynolds, all of Minneapolis; Julia Bakken of Burdett, Alberta, Canada; Henry L., of Paris Station, Ontario, Canada; and Albert K. of this sketch.
