Bio of Ole C. Olson, deceased, was an early settler of Sioux Agency township and a man who took quite a prominent part in the affairs of his community. He was born in Norway December 23, 1834, and came to the United States and Minnesota in 1860. Upon the outbreak of the Civil War, Mr. Olson enlisted in Company H, Ninth Minnesota Volunteer Infantry, and served four years. After the war he located near Norway Lake, in Kandiyohi county, and resided there until 1880. That year he moved to Sioux Agency township, and he resided on a farm until his death, which occurred October 11, 1898. For a number of years he was a supervisor of his precinct. Son after his discharge from the army Mr. Olson was married to Bertha Anderson, who is now deceased. The second marriage of Mr. Olson occurred in January, 1883, to Martha Anderson, nee Peterson, also a native of Norway. The first husband of Mrs. Olson was Johannes Anderson. He came to the United States in 1880 and settled at Willmar. His wife (now Mrs. Olson) came from the old country two years later to join her husband and had been in Willmar only three days when Mr. Anderson was killed in a railroad wreck at Atwater. She was left with a child three years old, Tilla, now the wife of Torvald Iverson. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Olson, named as follows: Milton Bernhard, of Northern Minnesota; Clara (Mrs. Theodore Knutson), of Sioux Agency; Peter Olaf, of Sioux Agency; Carolina Amanda (Mrs. Frank Johnston), of Minnesota Falls; and Lena Christina (Mrs. Carl Falkingham, of Saskatchewan, Canada. Olaf Olson, who conducts the home farm, was born there in November 22, 1887. He was educated in the district school and conducted the farm for his mother until the spring of 1913; since that time he has rented the farm. Mr. Olson was married June 2, 1912, to Guor Finnes, who was born in Yellow Medicine county September 22, 1893.
