Pederson, owner of a quarter section farm on section 27, Norman township, has lived in the county since he was five years old. He is a son of Ole Pederson, who was born in Norway in 1849, came to America in 1874, and to Yellow Medicine county in 1878, and who is a resident of Norman township. The mother of our subject was Julia (Havig) Pederson, who was born in Norway and who died in Norman township May 13, 1897. Peter Pederson was born in Norway June 11, 1873. The year after his birth he was brought by his parents to the New World, and for a few years the family lived at St. Ansgar, Iowa. The family came to Yellow Medicine County in 1878, and Peter spent his boyhood days on his father's homestead in Norman township. At the age of eighteen he began working out as a farm hand as was so employed until he began farming for himself. In 1899 Mr. Pederson bought his land, then bare of improvements, and he has built up the farm until today it is one of the fine ones of his township, beautified by a nice farm house and a small orchard. Mr. Pederson raises Holstein cattle and Poland China Hogs. Mr. Pederson was married in Iowa December 14, 1898, to Clara Asorson, a native of Iowa. Her parents came from Norway. Her mother died in Iowa in 1881; her father still lives in that commonwealth. The children of Mr. and Mrs. Pederson are Julia, Kenneth, Norma, Willie and Henry. The family are members of St. Stephan's Church of Canby. Source: "A History of Yellow Medicine County" by Arthur P. Rose Published 1914
