Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: LaNaye Hennen PETER P. SOLEM (1872) Peter P. Solem, a well-to-do farmer on section 23, Stony Run township, was born in Norway October 10, 1861. He is a son of Peter O. and Carrie Solem, native Norwegians. They came to the United States in 1869 and located in Faribault county, Minnesota, where they lived three years. In 1872 they came to Stony Run township and homesteaded on section 23. On the old home place they lived until their deaths, that of the mother occurring in 1895 and the father in 1903. Peter P. Solem was a small child when he came to America and had only arrived at the age of eleven years when he took up his residence in Yellow Medicine county. Here he acquired his education, and since attaining man's estate he has followed the occupation of farming, an occupation at which he has made a success. Mr. Solem was married to Ingabur Olson, a daughter of Ole and Anna (Cornelius) Olson, natives of Norway. Mr. Solem and wife have the following children: Clara, born May 10, 1894, educated in the county schools and high school at Granite Falls, and at present a teacher in the Duerr district school in North Dakota; Palmer, born March 2, 1897; Oscar, born December 18, 1900; Olga, born September 23, 1902.
