He has a fine home and well improved farm and is one of the successful men of the St. Leo neighborhood. Mr. Rader is of German descent. His father, Peter Rader, was born at Cologne, Germany, came to the United States at the age of 18 years, and settled in Wisconsin. He located in Scott County, Minnesota, in 1856; later he came to Yellow Medicine county and died the year following. The mother of our subject, Annie (Thomas) Rader, was born in Thrier, Germany, in June, 1829, Came to America when twenty years of age, was married in Wisconsin in 1855, and died in Yellow Medicine county November 17, 1913. To these parents while living in Scott County, Minnesota, Henry William Rader was born April 14, 1862. There he was brought up on a farm and educated in the district schools, living with his parents until 1889. That year he came to Yellow Medicine county and secured from his father the northeast quarter of section 31, Omro township, which he owned and farmed ten years. In 1899 he sold his Omro farm and purchased his present place adjoining St. Leo, where he has ever since resided. Mr. Rader was chairman of the Burton township board three years, and he and his family are members of the St. Leo Catholic Church. Mr. Rader was married at St. Leo November 26, 1889, to Mary Baierl, a daughter of Anton Baierl, who lives with his daughter, and Mary (Braierl) Braierl, who died in January, 1891. Mrs. Rader was born in West Newton, Nicollet county, Minnesota, February 26, 1872. Their seven children are named Anton, Susanna, Annie, Theresa, Mary, Clara and Agnes.
