He has been a resident of Yellow Medicine county since 1899 and owns and farms the north half of the northeast quarter of section 6 and the north half of the northwest quarter of section 8. Mr. Rolla is a son of Oluf and Johanna (Iverson) Rolla. The father lives in Wisconsin; the mother died there in 1899. In 1882 Carl came to the United States with his parents and located in Barron county, Wisconsin, where he resided until 1899. He was brought up on a farm and lived at home until eighteen years of age. He then worked out at farm work, laboring in the pine woods in the winter months. He came to Yellow Medicine county in 1899 and for a few years worked out. He then rented the Ole Iverson farm in Sioux Agency township and farmed that until 1911. During that time he came into possession of the north half of the northwest quarter of section 8, Sioux Agency township, and also farmed it while renting. In 1911 he bought his other eighty acres on section 6, erected the buildings on it, and has since lived there, farming both eighties. Mr. Rolla was married October 9, 1898, in Sioux Agency township, to Rachel Iverson, who was born in Winnebago county Iowa, December 18, 1867. She is a daughter of Brede and Gunhild Iverson, both deceased, who were early settlers of Yellow Medicine county, coming here in 1871. Mr. and Mrs. Rolla have three children, as follows: Obert, born January 29, 1900; Gilbert, born June 28, 1903; and Clarence, born August 26, 1906.
