Stevens rents and farms 200 acres on the east half of section 33, Minnesota Falls township. He has spent his entire life in Yellow Medicine county and was born on the old home farm in Sandnes township. His parents, John and Julia Stevens were natives of Norway, and came to the United States in their younger days. They early made their home in Yellow Medicine county and were married in Sandnes township. They lived on the farm in Sandnes many years and in the late nineties retired and moved to Granite Falls, where the mother died in 1900. The father then gave up the Granite Falls home and moved to Hanley Falls, where he has since made his home. The subject of this review spent his early boyhood on the farm in Sandnes. At the age of eight years he went to Granite Falls and for the next two years attended school there. He then took up his home with an uncle, James Stevens, in Sandnes township, where he lived three years and attended school. He then moved with his uncle to Minnesota Falls township, where the relative bought the northwest quarter of section 33. Their Arthur passed the remainder of his boyhood and finished his schooling. In 1910 he rented the present place and has since been engaged in its operation. Mr. Stevens was married February 18, 1908, at Granite Falls, to Alice Fraze, a native of Yellow Medicine county. She was born on the farm now rented by her husband. They have two children, Wallace and a baby boy. Source: "A History of Yellow Medicine County" by Arthur P. Rose Published 1914
