THRONDSEN (1892) Theodore O. Throndsen is one of the substantial farmers and land owners of Norman township. He owns the northeast quarter of section 27, a well improved farm. Mr. Throndsen is of Norwegian descent. His parents, Reier and Gudbjord (Anbol) Throndsen, came from Valders, Norway, in an early day and made settlement in Manitowoc county, Wisconsin. The father spent three years in the army during the Civil War and was on the frontier fighting Indians during the Sioux outbreak. In the early nineties the Throndsens became residence of Yellow Medicine county and engaged in farming in Norman township. While the family was living in Manitowoc county, Wisconsin, on August 12, 1867, Theodore Throndsen was born. He grew to manhood on his father's farm there and was educated in the district schools. He accompanied his parents to Yellow Medicine county in 1892 and for some years lived on the home farm on section 22, Norman. In 1898 he bought his present farm and has since been engaged in its management. Mr. Throndsen raises Holstein cattle and Poland China hogs and has stock in the Farmers Elevator Company of Canby. He is township assessor and treasurer of school district No. 101. He and his family are members of St. Stephan's Lutheran Church. The marriage of Mr. Throndsen to Emma Landsverk occurred in Canby July 16, 1898. His wife was born in Michigan July 19, 1877. Her parents, Lief and Alice (Hanson) Landsverk, came originally from Telemarken, Norway, and in 1878 they located in Yellow Medicine county, taking a homestead claim on section 24, Norman. The father died on the place in 1888; the mother makes her home with her daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Throndsen have three children: Richard L., born January 3, 1901; Clifford E., born January 10, 1903; and Gertrude A., born May 12, 1905.
