TOLLEFSON (1881) Rudolph T. Tollefson farms a rented place of 193 acres on section 27, Hazel Run township, the same being the south half of the northwest quarter, the south half of the northwest quarter of the northwest quarter, and ninety-three acres on the west three-quarters of the southwest quarter, within the old Sioux reservation line. Mr. Tollefson was born in Sandness township, Yellow Medicine county, October 23, 1881, on the old homestead of his parents. He is a son of Tollef and Sophia Tollefson, natives of Norway and the United States, respectively. The father came to this country when a baby, and the family located in Wisconsin. There he grew up and was married. Tollef and Sophia came to Yellow Medicine county in an early day and homesteaded in Sandnes township. They still live on the old home place, after residence of over forty years in the county. Rudolph Tollefson grew up on the farm in Sandnes township and was educated in the country schools. He also attended a one year course at Madison, Minnesota. Up to the age of nineteen he remained at home, helping his parents with the work on the farm. Then he started for himself, working out at farm work. In 1912 he rented his present farm from his father and has since resided there. He devotes considerable attention to the raising of hogs. Mr. Tollefson was married March 14, 1912, at Granite Falls, to Lena Halvorson, a native of Hazel Run township, having been born September 8, 1877.
