Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: LaNaye Hennen WILLIAM MARQUARDT (1888) William Marquardt is one of the younger generation of Yellow Medicine county's farmers, renting and operating the northwest quarter of section 33, Echo township. Mr. Marquardt is a native of Wisconsin, having been born in Milwaukee September 19, 1886. Coming to Yellow Medicine county with his parents when only a baby this county has since been his home. Here he passed his boyhood, grew to a man's estate, and received his education. At the age of sixteen he started working out for farmers. In 1911 he rented his present farm, and there he has since resided. He has been successful and is rapidly forging ahead in the battle of life. He affiliates with the German Lutheran church of Echo. He is not married. William is a son of Gustaf and Minnie (Doega) Marquardt. The parents were born in Germany, where they grew up and were married November 20, 1881. They came to the United States in 1885, and in 1888 they came to Yellow Medicine county, taking up their home in Echo township, on the southeast quarter of section 30. Previous to coming to Yellow Medicine county, two years were spent at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Since coming to Minnesota Gustaf Marquardt has at all times been engaged in farming and has made a success of it. Gustaf Marquardt has twice married, the first wife dying in 1898.
