Josephine Marie Jensen was born February 21, 1883 near Canby, Yellow Medicine, 
Minnesota to Martin James Jensen and Maria C Hanson, the fourth of their nine 
children. 



Found in the 1885 -1895 censuses living at Florida, Yellow Medicine, Minnesota:

May 27, 1885: Martin Jensen 32, born Illinois; Maria Jensen 30 born Norway; 
Clara Jensen 4, born Iowa; Josie M 2 born Minnesota; Ebert 0 born Minnesota.



1895: Martin Jensen 42, b Illinois, farmer; Maria 40 born Iowa; Clara M A 14 
born Iowa; Josie M 12 born MN; Ebert 10 b MN; Melva L 7 b MN; Hendry 4 b MN; 
Jessie 5 mos, b MN. 



Found in the 1900 census at Fortier, Yellow Medicine, MN: Martin Jensen 47, 
Marie Jensen 45, Clara A Jensen 19, Josie M Jensen 17, Ebradt Jensen 15, Melva 
S Jensen 12, Henry A Jensen 9, Jessie C Jensen 5, Guy A Jensen 2. 



Josephine married Adolph C Westby before 1908 at Yellow Medicine, Minnesota. 

The couple had 5 children: Virgil M, Waldemar A, Mary J, Clara A and Darwin E. 



Found in the 1910, 1920 censuses living at Porter, Yellow Medicine, MN: 

1910: Adolph C Westby 32,Josie Westby 26, Virgil Westby 1 yr 8 mos,Mary 
Dybsetter 17. Knut Arenson 31.



1920: Adolph C Westby 41, Jassie M Westby 36, Virgil M Westby 11, Waldemar A 
Westby 8, Marie J Westby  5 Clara A Westby 2 yrs, 8 mos, Darwin E Westby 5 mos.



Found in the 1930 census at Laramie, Albany, Wyoming: Adolph C Westby 52, 
Josephine M Westby 47, Virgil M Westby 21, Waldemar A Westby 18, Mary J Westby 
15, Clara A Westby 12, Darwin E Westby 10, Martin J Jensen 77 (Josie's father).



Found in the 1940 census at Long Beach, Los Angeles, California: Adolph Westby 
61, Josephine Westby 57, Darwin Westby 20.  



Josephine Marie Jensen Westby died September 4, 1959 at Los Angeles, California 
and is buried at the Sunnyside Cemetery at Long Beach, Los Angeles, 
California.
