Montgomery, son of George K. Montgomery [see sketch], is a leading and prosperous young farmer of Benton Township, Andrew County, MO. He was born in Owen County, IN., on June 13, 1853, and in 1857 came to Missouri, where he received a liberal education in the district schools. He began business life as a farmer in the spring of 1878, and by good management and close application to business has acquired considerable property. He owns and cultivates a fine farm of 440 acres on One-Hundred and Two River, upon which he has a handsome residence, situated about one mile west from Bolckow. He was married, January 1, 1878, to Belle Russell, born in 1859, and the daughter of D. T. Russell. They had two daughters born as follows: Lula B., November 18, 1878, died June 12, 1879; Lena G. February 9, 1880, died seven months later. The wife died February 18, 1880, and on June 12, 1881, he chose for his second wife, Mettie M. Thompson. To this union three children have been born, two of whom are living. They are Rosana M., born July 15, 1884; Thomas F., born March 14, 1887; the other child died in infancy.
