Bryan and Robert Rose, Published by Bryan, Brand & Co., St. Louis Missouri, 1876. ********************************************************************** Thomas Powell and Nancy Chaney, his wife, were natives of Maryland, but settled in Nicholas County, KY., in 1796. They had eleven child- ren, nine of whom lived to be grown, viz.: John, Charles, Jerry, Thomas, Isaac, William, Robert, Polly and Nancy. John, Isaac and Nancy settled in Indiana. charles, Thomas and William lived in Ken- tucky. Polly married, and she and her husband lived in Ohio. Jerry settled in Illinois. Robert was a soldier of the War of 1812, and became an early settler of Audrain County, where he still lives in his eighty third year. He was married first to Celia Murphy, of Ken- tucky, by whom he had: Alvin, Alfred, Monroe, Jefferson, Jameson, Columbus, Jackson, Robert T., Julia A., Nancy and Grezella. Mr. Powell was married two other times, his last wife being the widow Hunt.
