He was in the civil war and he was blind. He also owned the 1st National Bank of Cassville in the 1800's. He must have been well liked because a building in Cassville was also named for him. He owned a big two-story house and up in the eves of house on the outside there was a plaque that said "Oxford Cottage." I know he was buried in a cemetary close to downtown Cassville at the time.
