1. GEORGE7 LONG (son of JOHN DAKE Long and grandson of  HIRAM  D.  Long)
was born December 10, 1848 in Douglas Co., Missouri, and  died  February
01, 1927 in Pierce  City,  Lawrence  Co.,  Missouri.  He  married  SARAH
FRANCIS SMITH November 11, 1869 in  Barry  Co.,  Missouri,  daughter  of
JILES SMITH and SARAH SINGLETON.

Notes for GEORGE LONG: It is known that  George  Long  was  called  "Old
Wig".

George  Long  had  two   fingers   missing.   Opal   McClure,   George's
granddaughter, said she remembered hearing that George was a  water  boy
during the war. She indicated that he was carrying a bucket of water  to
a fellow solider when someone shot the bucket out of his hand.

His military records list him as 5 foot 2 1/2 inches tall.

Marriage record Book A, B, C, page 256. State  of  Missouri,  County  of
Barry.

I, John Hudson, ordained minister of the gospel do heeby certify that  I
celebrated the rite of matrimony between Miss Sarah  F.  Smith  and  Mr.
George Long both of said county on 11th day  of  November  1869  at  the
Bride's residence. John Hudson, M.G. Filed and recorded Dec 4, 1869.

Volunteer Service, Civil War. No medical records found. L. 15  Cav,  Mo.
Pvt, 7 Reg't of enrolled Missouri Milita. Roll  dated  Springfield,  Mo.
Aug 27, 1864. George Long, 5 ft and 2 1/2 in tall, age 18, farmer.

Co. G 7. complexion fair,  hair  dark,  eyes  blue.  Born  in  Missouri.
Occupation farmer. Was enrolled Aug 1, 1864  and  muster  out  July  10,
1865. Trained at Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Children of GEORGE LONG and SARAH SMITH are:

2. i. Melvia Carolina8 Long, b. August 19, 1870, Barry County, Missouri;
d. 1955, Barry County, Missouri.

ii. Giles Lehew (Buddy) Long, b. January 13, 1873, Barry Co.,  Missouri;
d. 1938, Barry Co., Missouri; m. Lottie J. Mikles.

Notes for Giles Lehew (Buddy) Long:

He and his wife Lottie J. are buried at Kings Prairie, Barry Co., Mo.

At the same cemetery was John Long born Nov 12, 1849 deid Dec 23,  1924.
Nancy A. (wife) born Aug 20, 1840 died July 16, 1911.

JESSE MICHAELS(MICKLES/MIKLES), b.abt 1808 in  NC  md.  NANCY  DAVIS  in
Surry Co,NC in 1833 and died in  Yadkin  Co,NC  in  1880.  Possibly  her
parents.

5. v. Dova Jane Long, b. June 06, 1888, Barry Co., Missouri; d. Lawrence
Co., Missouri.

6. vi. Nellie Evaline Long, b. August 26, 1892, Barry Co., Missouri;  d.
Smithville, Texas.
