JAMES ALVIN12 PEASE (ORLANDO11, NATHAN10, NATHAN9, ISREAL8, ISAAC DEACON7, JOHN6, ROBERT5, ROBERT4, JOHN (THE CLOTHIER)3, JOHN (THE SMYTHE)2, ROBERT1) was born January 29, 1840 in Granby, Hartford Co., Connecticut, and died January 20, 1917 in Washburn, Barry Co., Missouri. He married (1) PHEOBA M. MITTAN July 01, 1868 in Gage Co., Nebraska. He married (2) JANETTA ERMINA FETROW March 01, 1876 in Beatrice, Gage Co., Nebraska, daughter of ABRAHAM FETROW and ELIZABETH SHAMBAUGH. Notes for JAMES ALVIN PEASE: James Alvin Pease served in the Civil War as a Union Soldier. He homesteaded land in Gage County and had a homestead claim near Holmesville where he buried his first wife and two and maybe three children and both his parents. They lived in a sod house and farmed the cold Nebraska soil until they decided to pack up and go to Missouri. They first settled near Springfield in Greene Co., MO., and then in about a year they came on down to Barry Co., where they spent the rest of their lives. They bought the Cornelius Westfall place, which was west of Washburn and a place for them to grow strawberries. James "Jim" Pease had two buckskin mules that he called Pete and Dolly. With those two little buckskins he plowed his berries. He was what people of those times called an old solider. James had wound to the hip where he had be hit during a skimish of the Civil War. This musket wound and gave him problems all the rest of his life. A book Seeds of Time written by H. Harold Shambel talks about James Mooney. It tells about he and his wife Janetta (Nettie) and about their move to Barry Co., MO. He said that Nettie had dark skin and beautiful brown eyes that twinkled like stars in the sky. 1908 Cassville, MO. Democrat Paper: Little Minnie Pease has brain fever. 1908 Mrs. Pease is ill. Notes for JANETTA ERMINA FETROW: Janetta Fetrow went by the name of Nettie. She taught sunday school in Washburn, MO. at the Methodist Church for 50 years. She taught for all those years in the same church and to 5 generations of her own family. Children of JAMES PEASE and JANETTA FETROW are: i. Minnie Etta13 Pease, b. Beatrice, Gage Co., Nebraska; d. Mansfield, MO.; m. Ernest Lund. Notes for Ernest Lund: Minnie and Ernest Lund had several children and they lived in Mansfield, MO. We have pictures of Minnie, Estella, Ella and mother Janetta (Fetrow) Pease that were taken in the late 40's. ii. Estella Pease, b. 1877, Beatrice, Gage Co., Nebraska; d. 1961, Barry Co., MO.; m. Samuel (Sam) Woodruff. Notes for Estella Pease: Stella had no issue. She was married to Sam Woodruff. Sam and Stella are both buried at Washburn Prairie Cemetery. Samuel (Sam) and Stella Woodruff are buried at Washburn Prairie Cemetery, Washburn, MO. Buried near Sam Woodruff is Joseph Edward Woodruff born 1868 died 1950. (Probably a brother.) 2. iii. Ella Mae Pease, b. May 22, 1883, Gage Co., Nebraska; d. September 20, 1969, Cassville, Barry Co., Missouri. Generation No. 2 2. ELLA MAE13 PEASE (JAMES ALVIN12, ORLANDO11, NATHAN10, NATHAN9, ISREAL8, ISAAC DEACON7, JOHN6, ROBERT5, ROBERT4, JOHN (THE CLOTHIER)3, JOHN (THE SMYTHE)2, ROBERT1) was born May 22, 1883 in Gage Co., Nebraska, and died September 20, 1969 in Cassville, Barry Co., Missouri. She married JAMES (JAMIE) HARVEY MOONEY 1898 in Miami, Oklahoma, son of TIMPOTHY MOONEY and AMERICA SIMPSON. Notes for ELLA MAE PEASE: Ella and Jamie Mooney are both buried at Washburn Prairie Cemetery near Washburn, MO. Notes for JAMES (JAMIE) HARVEY MOONEY: James Harvey Mooney was known as Jamie. He was a little drummer boy during the Spanish American War, Pvt 1 Ark Inf.. He was real young about 13 when he ran away from home and joined the service. James Harvey Mooney md 1898 to Ella Pease by Eli Lamb at Miami, Oklahoma. Children of ELLA PEASE and JAMES MOONEY are: i. Loyd (Dude) Patrick14 Mooney, b. September 20, 1900, Washburn, Barry Co., Missouri; d. January 01, 1968, Cassville, Barry Co., Missouri; m. Ruth Berryhill, January 17, 1921, Benton Co., Arkansas. Loyd Mooney served in W.W. I as a nurse. He is buried at Washburn Prairie Cemetery near where his parents and grandparents are buried and by his wife, Ruth Berryhill Mooney. Lloyd Mooney md Ruth Berryhill 17 Jan 1921 Benton Co., Arkansas. ii. Harold (Dutch) Mooney, b. September 21, 1902, Barry Co., MO.; d. McDonald Co., MO.; m. Ruby Boles. Notes for Harold (Dutch) Mooney: Harold was called Dutch. Dutch and Ruby lived near Powell, MO. area just down the road from the Fox Cemetery where they are both buried. Several of the Boles family members are buried Fox Cemetery. Back in the early part of the 1900's a rural school and probably church too stood near where Fox cemetery is located. Joe Schell wrote Big Sugar Creek Country which gives details about some of the families of the Fox Community. Al Brumley the famous songwriter is buried at Fox Cemetery as are members of the Boles family (Ruby Mooney's family). Listed below are a few of the Boles stones found there. Notes for Ruby Boles: She is buried at Fox Cemetery near the Powell, Mo area. Buried there in the same cemetery is Albert Brumley the famous religous country song writer. iii. Lena Mooney, b. 1904, Barry Co., Missouri; d. June 11, 1971, Barry Co., Missouri; m. Carroll (Skinny) Williams, Abt. 1922, Barry Co., Missouri. Notes for Lena Mooney: They had four children, and their three sons are buried at Washburn Prairie. All died within a short time of each other. Notes for Carroll (Skinny) Williams: Buried at Washburn Prairie at Washburn, Mo. It is believed his mother's maiden name was Looney and they too lived in the Washburn, MO. area. iv. Helen Mooney, b. 1907, Barry Co., Missouri; d. Abt. 1989, Barry Co., Missouri; m. Albert Bryan Cook, Barry Co., Missouri. Notes for Helen Mooney: Helen and Bryan Cook lived in the Washburn, MO., area most of their lives. Bryan may have had a son by a former marriage who lived in Washington state. v. Lawrence Mooney, b. September 09, 1910, Barry Co., Missouri; d. March 13, 1995, Barry Co., Missouri; m. Juanita Morgan, Abt. 1930, Barry Co., Missouri. Notes for Lawrence Mooney: Lawrence and Juanita had one child who died as an infant. They are all buried at Washburn Prairie Cemetery near Washburn. Lawrence had a farm on the highway 37 near Washburn were he lived almost all his married life. Notes for Juanita Morgan: Juanita Morgan md Lawrence Mooney, buried Washburn Prairie, Washburn, MO. vi. Raymond Mooney, b. Abt. 1912, Barry Co., MO.; d. California; m. June. Notes for Raymond Mooney: Raymond and June Mooney had two children. June had a dt when they married. They lived in California. vii. Fern Mooney, b. Abt. 1915, Barry Co., MO.; m. (1) Clyde Lawrence; m. (2) Mr Warren; m. (3) Mr Ford. viii. Rex Mooney, b. Abt. 1918, Barry Co., MO.; m. Doris. In the late 1960's he lived at Buffalo, MO. He had no children. Rex Mooney was a minister at Buffalo.
