RESPECTED CITIZEN PASSES #1 Obituary Another husband and father has been called to his reward in that happy land far away, where saints eternally dwell in the sunlight of their blessed Redeemer, who has prepared mansions for their reception in that Holy City on high, where love, happiness and peace never end. A.L. Kersey died at his home in Exeter, Monday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m. 1919, of paralysis and infirmities of old age, aged 83 years, 7 months and 18 days. He was born in East Tennessee, Feb. 25, 1836, and lived there until 14 years old, when his parents moved to Sebastian county, Ark. He was married there in 1859 , to Miss N.C. Hinton, a resident there, but a native of Georgia. To this marriage was born three children, who are: Thos. S., John D., and Mrs. Maud H. Ellston, who survive the father. In 1862, he enlisted in Co. D, 3rd Ark., Regiment of Infantry and served in the confederate service until the close of the war. He located at Granby, after the war closed and engaged in selling goods and mining for several years. He then moved to Rocky Comfort where, he lived until 1887, when he moved to Exeter where he had since lived. He always took an active interest in the welfare of his country, town and neighbors and as long as he could he was a great reader of the current news of the country and was well informed. His wife survives him, although very feeble from age, she cannot tarry much longer with the loved ones on earth for she is pining for the loved one that has gone before, for that sweet rest and happiness in that Holy City on high. Rev. J.S. Pike of Exeter, conducted funeral services at the Christian Church in Exeter, at 3 p.m. Oct. 14, of which church he was a member for years. Interment was made in Maplewood Cemetery. #2 Obituary A.L. Kersey Passes Away A.L. Kersey, one of Barry county’s oldest merchants, died at his home in Exeter Monday, Oct. 13, at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 18 days. For several months Mr. Kersey had been growing weaker and had required the closest attention from the members of his family. Mrs. Kersey is now very low and has been quite feeble for months also. Arthur L. Kersey was born in East Tennessee in 1838. When fourteen years old he moved with his family to Sebastian county, Ark. There he ws married in 1859 to Miss N.C. Hinton. To them three children, Thomas, John D. and (Maud,) Mrs. C.N. Ellston, were born. All live at Exeter. He served in the Confederate army during the Civil war. After the war he located at Granby and engaged in the mercantile business and mining. Later he lived for a while in McDonald county and moved to Exeter in 1887 where he has since lived. Since 1887 he has been associated with his two sons in the mercantile business at Exeter and for a short time at Cassville. Mr. Kersey was a man who led a quiet life. He was a man of strict integrity and held in high esteem by everybody who know him. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon and interment made in Maplewood cemetery at Exeter.
