Lee Jeremiah R. Lee was equally impressed upon the mind and heart of man. The hope of immortality springs from the deepest feelings of the soul, the feeling of kinship with Eternity. The problem of Life and Death will ever remained unsolved at least until the day of Eternity dawns and then all will be rewarded according to the record made on earth. Jeremiah R. Lee was born in North Carolina, August 18, 1833 and was 87 years,10 months and 25 days old,. His parents moved to Tennessee where he grew to manhood. When the Civil War came on, he espoused the cause of the Union and entered the Army. He was married three times, the last time to Miss Parthena Porter at Varona, where he moved from Kansas, who survives him. He moved to Corsicana, Barry county, many years ago, where he lived several years until he moved to this city, where he continued to live to the time of his death. He was a Wagon Repairer by trade and followed that occupation while living here. He had been Gatekeeper at the Reunion Grounds for many years and will be missed by the many who have and will attend the Reunion. He left eight children surviving him, who are: J.W. Lee of Wayne county, who has been with his father during his sickness, Mrs Louisa Johnson of Jackson county, Tenn., Mrs J.C. Lowe of near Cassville, Mrs Catherine Thompson of Monett, Asbury Lee of Phoenix, Arizona, Buford Lee of Dallas, Texas, Porter Lee of Dallas, Oregon and Mrs John Taylor of Cassville. He left many grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Edward Chappell at the Baptist Church and Interment made in Oak Hill Cemetery, Wednesday. From the Local and Personal Column of the same Paper and Date Dr. E. J. Lee of St Louis, attended the funeral of his brother, J. R. Lee of this city, Thursday.
