Barry County, Missouri Obituaries - Nancy Merl Wright Hi Mr. Miller, I have the following submission for Barry County, Mo. Archives, Obitutary CULVER Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri Obitutary for: WRIGHT, Nancy Merl 1903-1977 Nancy Merl, oldest of ten children of E.R. & Artie Wormington Robberson, was born in a rural home north of Cassville, Barry Co., Mo., June 3, 1903: and was saved and baptised at the Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church on De. 5, 1928. She was a very active missionary from an early age. With the combined efforts of Miss Robberson and Rev. Winifred Davis the Merl's Chapel Church was organized and established on Nov. 14, 1929. This was the date on which Sister Merl was ordained and became the first pastor of the Chapel. On May 2, 1931, Miss Nancy Merl Robberson was united in Holy Matrimony to William Andrew (Andy) Wright. There was one son born of this union. Andy and Merl were an active well-known couple in both the missionary field and the community as a whole. Andy preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1969; but their son Junior Glendon, survives; he and his wife Jessie, now make their home in Wichita, Kansas; also surviving are eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. After the death of her beloved Andy, Sister Wright moved to Wichita in 1969 and made her home with Glendon and Jessie. She has known a long struggle with failing health and departed this life at 11:40 p.m. on May 6, 1977, in the St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 73 years, 11 months, and 3 days. Besides her parents, Nancy Merl was also preceded in death by a baby sister Lavada, age 4. She is survived by two brothers---Harlan Robberson of Hemet, Ca., Ross Robberson of Purdy, Mo. Six sisters also survive--Mrs. Hazel Swaffar, of Monett, Mo., Mrs Ruby Henderson of Hemet, Ca., Miss Willie Robberson and Mrs. Erma Gates, both of Purdy, Mo., Mrs. Marzelle Arnaud of Monett, Mo., and Mrs. Erma Swaffar, of Torrence, Ca. There are many other relatives and a host of brothers and sisters in Christ who will be saddened by the passing of this courageous little lady----REV.
