Gealy, of the real-estate and loan firm of Gealy & Harlow, of Golden City, Barton County, Mo., was born in Mercer County, Penn., October 8, 1835, and came to Barton County in May, 1881, where he has since resided. He is a son of William J. and Matilda (Thoine) Gealy, both natives of Pennsylvania. James T. Gealy was reared to farm life, receiving his education in the common schools, and at Westminster College, in Pennsylvania. He studied law, and was admitted to the Venango County (Penn.), bar in 1875, and was admitted and licensed at the city of Lamar to practice law in the several courts of the State of Missouri, at the fall term of 1881. He has been three times married; first, in February, 1857, to Miss Lettice Perry, a native of Pennsylvania, who bore him four children: James I. (deceased), Calphurnice (deceased); Ettie, wife of T. A. Heady of Springfield, Mo.; and Carrie. He was married the second time to Miss Lizzie Gray, a native of New York City, August 30, 1876. One child, Freddie (deceased), was born to this union. He was again married, in September, 1888, to Miss Emma Conrad, a native of Michigan. M. Gealy in an ancient member of the I.O.O.F.
