David Braden was chairman of the meeting. J.S. Rankin proposed to sell one acre of ground east of the Francis Reservation for burial purposed for $ 50.00 to establish a public cemetery. A committee of William Braden, William Keeble, and Hugh Baird was appointed to solicit subscriptions to pay for the ground and make necessary improvements. The plot was deeded to the Cemetery Association in 1874 from Samuel Rankin. Lots were sold for $ 5.00 each. Some of the first to buy lots were: William and David Braden, Joseph Hensley, H.B. Clark, Robert Leech, A.B. and W.A. Crawford, W. M. Robinson, Nelson Cole, John Burnham, Alexander Morwood, Hugh Baird, P.B. Hays, Calvin Read, Logan Mitchell The first elected May 9, 1874: President G.B. Hickman; Secretary Gilderoy Holdeman, Treasurer J.S. Rankin Trustees William Braden and A.B. Crawford In 1911 the grounds were enlarged to the west by an acre, donated by Angela Scully. The Earliest legible records of burials are those of Thomas Francis 1858, John P., son of W. and A. Braden, 1860. For many years the interested people met and cleaned the cemetery. In 1917, John McKee made a motion that a flock of sheep be allowed to pasture the cemetery in order to keep it mowed. person parents parents: Rieke & Wilhelmiene Kahman Bohlken Behrend Mein Janssen (Bernie) (Bernar) Bohlken Bernie's sister is Bertha Bohlken Dykman b 2 Oct. 1880 Golden Illinois d. 24 May 1970 Behrend m1 Hannah Janssen Bohlken Hannah died of Pneumonia 1 yr later (1906) child: Agnes Minnie Bohlken b 30 March 1905 Minnie m Fred Knuth Leavenworth KS 14 Aug 1943 Behrend m2 Mary Meints Bohlken Mary Meints parents: Albert J. & Riche Fochsenga Meints child: Fannie Helen Bohlken b. 4 jan 1909 Mary b 4 Nov. 1879 Beatrice Nebraska d 9 May 1954 child, child: also they had sons… died in infancy Bohlken and Dykman families came together from Illinois Rieke & Wilhemiene Kahman Bohlken both immigrants from Germany children Bertha Dykman, Helena Dykman, Eidena Schmehl, both born Ostriesland, Germany, came to America 1866 & 1869 Bernie, Will, Frank, George, Bert Bohlken moved from Wyertes, Nebraska to Scully Property in Mulberry, MO child: Rieke Gerhard (George) Bohlken b 24 Oct 1888 Cheyenne County Nebraska George moved to Mulberry with his parents and seven brothers and sisters They came from Nebraska in a covered wagon October 1895 Rieke Gerhard (George) Bohlken m Ethel May Bowen Bohlken m 24 Feb 1919 Ethel died Feb 1963 George still alive 1985 Ethel May Bown Bohlken b 18 March 1890 Cass County MO Ethel's parents: Robert Lee & Emma Drake Bowen children: Carl Bert Bohlken (Pete) b 27 Dec 1919 WW II died auto accident Sept 1971 children: Dorthy Lucile Bohlken b 2 Jan 1923 children: Eulela May 10 March 1930 Carl Bert (Pete) Bohlken MARRIED…..
