Opened by Ross O. Spears as Secty May 3, 1931 Bill and Wilma Kash obeyed the Gospel, October 13, 1963 and were baptized at Clinton Church of Christ. May 3, 1931 The members of the Church of Christ at Johnstown met for the purpose of attending to any business that might come before them. The meeting was opened by electing R.O. Spears, Chairman and C. S. O'Neal Secty. The following members were elected as Deacons: R. E. Spears, Joe Kash, R. N. Spears, W. O Spencer, Mark Goddard and Henry Vergason. The brethren appointed Roy Jones to take care of the house rented for Brother Pope. It was noted to have the treasurer read reports each month. Treasury book was read commencing January 1, 1931, Motion made and recorded to have a regular business meeting once each month. Motion carried for first Sunday in each month. C. S. O'Neal, Secty. Ross O. Spears, Chairman June 7, 1931 Regular business meeting of the Church of Christ at Johnstown. Brother Joe Kash as chairman. R. O. Spears as Secty. were made permanent by note of members. Treasury report read for preceeding month. Motion made to buy Treasurer a recording book. Motion carried. Motion carried to set aside all Lord's Day contributions for Church indebtedness till paid in full. $15 per month for class room lumber bill and balance for banknotes and incidental expenses. Meeting was called to order by the chairman, Joe Kash. Regular secretary being absent, Elfie Callahan was appointed protem. The following business was transacted. Treasurer's report was read and accepted. Amount on hands: $11.96 Decided to make special contribution on third Sunday for payment on note. Decided to work on roads Thursday and Friday. Motion #1 move that we investigate whether we can get the communion set from the church in Denver, Colorado. Motion made and seconded by Brother Cord Piety. Spears a stipulated amount each time he fills the pulpit also we pay the orphan home a stipulated amount once each month. Business meeting called to order and in the absence of financial report the following resolutions (?) and business was transacted. Motion was made that Bro. Pete Spears to receive $5 for the Sundays that he fills the pulpit and to be paid monthly, and not to exceed three Sundays a month. By Bro. Kenneth Goddard, seconded, Brother Cord Piety. Motion carried. Motion made by Bro Jerry Callahan that the amount to be sent to orphan home monthly shall be $10.00 Seconded by Bro E. W. Goddard. Motion made by J. S. (4) Decided to ask Kenneth Hill to make us a talk son Sunday Jan. 10, 55 Regular quarterly meeting of Church of Christ Johnstown, MO. Meeting called to order by Chairman. Meeting opened with prayer by Brother Hick Callahan. Officers for the year were appointed as follows: Brother Harley Midkiff as Chairman. Brother Carl Fortner as Treasurer. Brother Strebe Hunt as Secretary. It was decided by these present that Brother Midkiff check Butler for prices of New Testaments for the church Motion made, seconded and carried to adjourn. W. T. Piety, Sec Johnstown Church met on regular meeting day in April 1956 to decide on painting and papering the church. All was in favor. Carl Fortner was appointed to contact Ora Owens for the job Strieby Hunt, sec. Johnstown Church met on regular meeting day June 1956 to discuss a meeting. It was decided on to get Bob McIndoo if available. Sec. Strieby Hunt Johnstown Church met on regular meeting day in October 1956. Meeting was called to order by Harley Midkiff, Chairman. It was agreed to fix the church foundation. Motion was made by Mr. Peity and seconded by Hick Callahan. Strieby Hunt, Secretary. The annual meeting on November 4, 1956 was held to elect new officers. January 27, 1957 Special meeting Motion made to supply literature for young people's class. Motion made by Carl, seconded by Hick. Agreed to pay Thursday night teacher $5 per week. April 1957 Financial report read. Discussion about preacher for fall meeting. Discussed about Brother Towel of Kansas City. Agreed to write concerning this and find out about dates Gerald Callahan, sec September 1, 1957 Was agreed upon to contact Harley Midkiff's cousin concerning a meeting for 1958. Also agreed to give to the church at Clinton $100 towards their building fund. Also $10 per month thereafter. Gerald Callahan, sec October 27, 1957 Agreed to pay Brother Hick and Brother "Mick" $10 each Sunday they fill the pulpit. Agreed to send $10 per month to Herald of Truth sec, Gerald Callahan 1958 Motion made to discontinue $10 per month to Clinton and instead give fourth Sunday contribution. Motion made by Harley, seconded by Mick. Motion made to give Clinton congregation a $100 donation. Motion made and seconded. Agreed upon to investigate some needy orphan's home to contribute to. Agreed to leave in office present brethren. Motion made by Mick and seconded by Earl to send $10 a month to Orphans' Home. Jess Allison appointed to get someone to fix steeple January 1959 Held meeting December 20 to discuss giving help to Boyles family. Agreed up to enclose N.W. corner of building by curtains or panel for small children's class. Bro Carl Fortner to see about this. 1963 January 20. Agreed upon to get one dozen New Testaments. Contact Clinton congregation about using their baptistry when needed. Feb. Report on New Testaments. They were ordered. Discussion on election of new treasurer. Nominations for office: Harley Midkiff, Orville McIndoo, Jerry Callahan, Harley Midkiff elected. Motion made and seconded for treasurer to serve for a term of two years. March 10. Motion made and seconded that Herbert and I contact someone to fix weather boarding on building. Agreed upon to buy a new mower. Tom Carroll, Carl Fortner, Harley Midkiff, and Claude O'Neal to look and purchase same. Trustee appointed: Herbert Herrmann, Jerry McElwain and Jerry Callahan. Deed read before the church. April 1. Discussion about waiting on table. May 19. Motion made and seconded that H. Herrmann and J. Callahan repair and paint east side of steeple. Discussions on insulation ceiling and installing new heating system. Discussion of purchase of new song books. Discussion on replacement of preacher to take Brother Kenneth Hill's place since he has to leave. Discussion on what to do about preacher. Agreed to contact Brother Davidson to see if he can recommend a preacher for us. Motion made and seconded. Agreed to give congregation in Butler some of our old song books. November 3. Motion made and seconded to get new lights for auditorium. Discussion agreed upon to have Brother Norman Marshall preach for following year (1964) December 1 Report from Brother Chester Hill that new lights have been ordered. Decided to buy a step ladder for the church 6' length. Decided to go and talk with Brother Norman concerning church affairs. April 5. Discussion on rope for large north class room door. Agreed to ask Brother Norman to come and discuss previous church matters May 10. Motion made and seconded to have bank sloped in front of church. Decided to clean bridge in church entrance July 6 Change serve time from 6 P.M. to 6:30P.M. Agreed to give Brother Hall $50 to help on expense money to Illinois. Badly in need of help. Aug 2. Discussion on buying fans for church. Decided to give $10 per month to Herald of Truth October 4. Motion made and seconded to have Brother John Haywood preach and in case he can't be here, send another brother. Agreed to pay $25 per Sunday.
