Schaeffer Cemetery, Benton County, Missouri East of Warsaw, Mo on Highway MM, nearly to the end. It was in the middle of an area that was surrounded by houses. It was neatly kept, but the local Warsaw Funeral Home told us that it hadn’t been used in many years. It was looked at, but not completely copied, by Eddene (Hightower) Thompson and her mother, Eunice (Swift) Hightower on July 2, 1986. * This indicates explanatory information by Eddene Thompson from personal research or etc. J.W. Stone read J. W. (*Presumed to be John Thomas Wickliffe) Eunice’s father, Ela Thomas Swift, born 9 June 1884 east of Warsaw, Benton County, Mo, died 5 June 1977 Vinita, Craig County, Ok, had grown up here near Turkey Creek. He said that his grandfather John Thomas Wickliffe was buried in Schaeffer’s Cemetery. This rock is assumed by Eddene and Eunice to be the only known stone of John Thomas Wickliffe and his actual burial site. (Note on John Thomas Wickliffe: The dates on this person comes from family Bibles. Born December 28, 1828 in Virginia; Died December 10, 1894 near Warsaw, Mo. He was the son of Isaac Wickliffe and Nancy Hubbell. John was married first to Jane Clanton, daughter of Benjamin and Nancy Clanton of Benton Co, Mo; second to Laura Lavinia “Vinnie” (Allison) Creasy; third to Catherine Butts; and fourth to Mrs. Eliza Walker who had a son, Riley Walker.)
