Benton County, Missouri Obituaries - Gustave Dueber Obituaries may have mistakes Cole Camp Courier Thursday, Feb. 28, 1935; Pg. 1 Gustave Dueber, Tipton's oldest citizen, died Sunday night at his home on West Moniteau street, after six years of illness, much of this time spent in his invalid chair. Mr. Dueber had a varied and interesting life. Born February 16, 1838 in Dermbach, Prussia, Germany, he migrated to America with his parents in 1847. He was the oldest of a family of nine children, and the last to survive. The first home was in the Haw creek neighborhood, south of Smithton. In March 1866, he came to Tipton and established himself in business and for the next 51 years, he was an active force in the business life of Tipton, retiring in 1917. Mr. Dueber was for a short time a member of the State Militia, engaging in the battle of Cole Camp. Serious illness bringing an honorable discharge. He also served in the early history of the county court as judge. On May 15, 1873 he married Miss Adele Holtsnider and they were the parents of six children, Miss Regina dying in 1904, a son at nine years of age. There are left two sons, Oscar and Lawrence and two daughters, Misses Olive and Clara, all of the home, of whose faithful care of the aged father, too much could not be said. Mrs. Dueber's death occurred in 1928. ----Sedalia Capital.
