Y. Elbert, Esq., in Benton co., Mo., at half past 7 o'clock, p. m., on Sunday, the 18th ult., Rev. Jesse Greene, presiding Elder of Lexington District, St. Louis Conference, M. E. Church. The deceased embraced Christianity in the days of his youth, and for more than 30 years has been an efficient minister of the Gospel, more than a quarter of a century of which time has been spent in itinerations through Missouri and Arkansas. It pleased God that he should go from the communion of happy spirits on earth to happier in heaven. A revival of religion commenced at the late Quarterly meeting on the Warsaw Circuit, in the labors and enjoyments of which he participated largely. On Friday morning, 3 o'clock, he was taken with a chill which was followed by others of the most congestive type, which closed at the above time his earthly pilgrimage. He died as he had lived, triumphant by faith. In those lucid moments, e'er reason had fled before the paralyzing stroke of disease, he would exclaim, "Hope, sweet hope, an anchor to the soul, " &c. Quietly shall his dust mingle with its mother dust, until the voice of the mighty angel shall call it forth to life everlasting. W.W.J.
