Benton County, Missouri Obituaries - Mrs. Katherine Gardner Please note: Many obits contain many errors. Benton County Guide, February 20, 1953 MRS. KATHERINE GARDNER Mrs. Katherine Gardner, 89, widow of the late Florence C. Gardner, passed away at the home of Mrs. Goldie Kroencke in Sedalia at 8:40 a.m. Friday, February 13. Mrs. Gardner was born in Cole Camp on September 14, 1862, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Tietjen. On January 9, 1887, she was united in marriage with Florence Gardner. The couple resided at Cole Camp where Mr. Gardner operated a blacksmith shop. Seven children were born to this union. Her husband preceded her in death September 19, 1943. The family moved to Sedalia in 1910. Surviving are three sons and four daughters, 36 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sedalia, at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon with the Rev. Walter Strickert, pastor officiating. Burial was in Crown Hill cemetery, Sedalia.
