Gaertner, was born November 26, 1898 in Joplin, Mo. When six years old she came with her parents to Cole Camp. Here she was instructed and confirmed by the Rev. F.A.C. Meyer. She was a member of our Trinity Lutheran Church. Four years ago she removed to Sedalia and there joined our sister congregation served by the Rev. Chas. Baepler. Two years ago she married Leonard F. Gaertner. Her health failing she went to California with her husband in quest of her health. But her condition became worse. Two weeks ago she returned to her home in Sedalia where she fell asleep last Tuesday, her age being 22 years, 7 months and 9 days. Interment was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery preceded by services in our church conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Baepler of Sedalia. Many beautiful florial offerings showed the esteem and love in which the deceased sister was held. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Stella Bergman, Miss Emma and her brother Milbourne. Her parents and a little sister preceded her in death. The text of her funeral sermon was Job 19, 25-27: "I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that He shall stand at the latter day upon the earth; and though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God; whom I shall see for myself and mine eyes shall behold and not another."
