Hannibal Journal April 29, 1847
Poisoning. -- The Columbia Statesman of Thursday last says:  Some ten days 
ago, Mr. James Hendicks, of the northern part of this county, died a 
mysterious death.  A post mortem examination being made by Drs. Peters and 
Taylor, it was decided that his death was occasioned by poison.  Suspicion 
resting on Samuel Brubb and the wife of the deceased, they were committed to 
jail for further trial.
