Biographical Sketch of M. Connelly, St. Joseph, Buchanan County, MO >From "History of Buchanan County, Missouri, Published 1881, St. Joseph Steam Printing Company, Printers, Binders, Etc., St. Joseph, Missouri. ********************************************************************** M. Connelly, boot and shoemaker, was born in County Cork, Ireland, November 5, 1830, and was raised and educated in his native county until he attained his twentieth year. Then he came to the United States, taking up his abode in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he commenced to learn his trade, finishing it in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1853, he removed to Lexington, MO., and in the autumn of 1854, came to St. Joseph. He pursues the even tenor of his way, is unassuming, commands hosts of friends, and he does a thriving business. He married January 20, 1856, Miss Catharine Jordan, who died January 26, 1872, leaving three children: James, Michael and Annie.
