Biographical Sketch of J. H. Dicken, Bloomington Township, Buchanan County, MO >From "History of Buchanan County, Missouri, Published 1881, St. Joseph Steam Printing Company, Printers, Binders, Etc., St. Joseph, Missouri. ********************************************************************** J. H. Dicken, farmer, section 26, postoffice DeKalb, was born in Green County, Kentucky, July 5, 1837, and when two years of age his parents moved to Illinois, where his father, Isaac H., died in the fall of 1844. In the spring of 1855, his mother, Elizabeth, with the family of nine children moved to Missouri and located in Buchanan County. The subject of this sketch was raised on a farm and has followed farming during life. He received a good education in the common schools here. He acted as Lieutenant in the Pawpaw Militia a number of months. Has held the office of Justice of the Peace, since November, 1878. He now owns one half interest in a farm of 140 acres. He was married on Feb- ruary 6, 1866, to Miss susan A. Fauntleroy. She was born in Kentucky August 11, 1840. They have two children: Valley H., born April 21, 1867; and Birdie B., born October 5, 1872.
