Biographical Sketch of Michael Gleason, St. Joseph, Buchanan County, MO >From "History of Buchanan County, Missouri, Published 1881, St. Joseph Steam Printing Company, Printers, Binders, Etc., St. Joseph, Missouri. ********************************************************************** Michael Gleason, City Weigh Master, was born in County Galway, Ireland, in November, 1843, and came to this country and city in July, 1863. He engaged in the grocery business, and then commenced running an express and hack line, and for six years has been weigh master at the city scales. By his faithful and upright course he has won the confidence of the public. From an injury received on one of his limbs at eleven years of age, in 1877 he was obliged to suffer its amputation. He married Bridget Ryan in June, 1869.
