Biographical Sketch of Peter Habig, St. Joseph, Buchanan County, MO >From "History of Buchanan County, Missouri, Published 1881, St. Joseph Steam Printing Company, Printers, Binders, Etc., St. Joseph, Missouri. ********************************************************************** Peter Habig, manufacturer of stoneware and terra cotta goods. An important industry, is operated by this gentleman. He is a native of Germany and was born on May 24, 1836, and was there raised until he attained his nineteenth year, when he came to America, locating in St. Louis. In 1866, he removed to St. Joseph, engaging in the manufacture of terra cotta in a small way, and has been gaining until now he has one of the largest institutions in Northwestern Missouri. In sewer and drain pipes he has a very extensive trade. On March 18, 1866, Miss M. A. Miller became his wife. She is the daughter of D. and Mary Miller, pioneers of Andrew County, Missouri. Her grandfather Miller, in his time, was a prominent politician in Virginia, and a personal friend of Cabe Jackson.
