Biographical Sketch of Ernest Hansen, St. Joseph, Buchanan County, MO >From "History of Buchanan County, Missouri, Published 1881, St. Joseph Steam Printing Company, Printers, Binders, Etc., St. Joseph, Missouri. ********************************************************************** Ernest Hansen, foreman of car and building department for the St. Joseph and Western Railroad, is a native of Germany, and was born in Prussia, April 29, 1846. He came to America with his parents when young. His father, Henry, was a cabinet maker, and located with his family in Chenango County, New York, where our subject was raised, educated and learned his trade. In 1869, he came West and located at Netawaka, Kansas, and was in the employ of the Central Branch of the Union Pacific until 1872, when he came to this city, and has since been with the St. Joseph and Western Railway. He is among the excellent mechanics of the country, and well up in car building and general railroad work. In 1870, Miss Beatrice E. Bibb, of Nemaha County, Kansas, became his wife. They have three children: Joseph, Arthur and Victor.
