Biographical Sketch of Joseph H. Igler, St. Joseph, Buchanan County, MO >From "History of Buchanan County, Missouri, Published 1881, St. Joseph Steam Printing Company, Printers, Binders, Etc., St. Joseph, Missouri. ********************************************************************** Joseph H. Igler, was born in Germany, January 17, 1846, where he was raised to manhood and educated. In 1866, he crossed the ocean and took up his abode in Norfold, Virginia, where he remained until 1870, when he came to St. Joseph, Missouri. The trade of boot and shoe making he learned in his native country, and for a number of years he was connected with Messrs. Morgan & Fink, and latterly was F. Wenz. In the spring of 1881, the St. Joseph Boot and Shoe Company was es- tablished, of which he is a member. The company is comprised of Mr. Igler, F. Wenz and Christian Frenger. This enterprise is in its infancy, but under the auspices of the above parties, it is designed to figure prominently in the future of wholesale interests of St. Joseph. Mr. Igler is thoroughly schooled in his profession. In 1876, Miss Mary Keshel became his wife. Their union has been bless- ed by two children: Ida and Fannie.
