Biographical Sketch of John Jones, Wayne Township, Buchanan County, MO

John Jones, farmer, section 1, postoffice St. Joseph, was born in
Athens County, Ohio, April 17, 1838, and when but a child his parents
moved to Buchanan County, Missouri, where he has since resided. He
has been engaged in agricultural pursuits during life, excepting three
years when he was engaged in the mercantile trade as one of the firm
of McKinnis & Jones, of St. Joseph. His landed estate includes 100
acres of timberland and a one half interest in 140 acres of fine farm-
ing land. He was appointed justice of the peace in June, 1881. Was
in the state militia six months. Mr. Jones was married September 8,
1870, to Miss Mary E. Pascoe. She was born in Platte County, Missouri
December 24, 1849. They have three children: Alice, born November 24,
1871; Lottie B., born March 20, 1874; and Maggie, born November 18,
1876.
