Biographical Sketch of J. H. Keene, St. Joseph, Buchanan County, MO

J. H. Keene, is a native of Daviess County, Missouri, and was born on
April 24, 1849. There he was raised as a farmer, his father having
been one of the early settlers of that county. In 1874, he came to
St. Joseph, Missouri, engaging in the livery business with M. I. Couch,
and was afterward of the firm of Ireland & Keene, and later of Keene &
Moore. For a time he was employed in buying horses for the government.
He is numbered among the best horse fanciers in the country. He is a
member of the Temple of Honor.
