Biographical Sketch of Mrs. Nancy Lykins, St. Joseph, Buchanan County, MO >From "History of Buchanan County, Missouri, Published 1881, St. Joseph Steam Printing Company, Printers, Binders, Etc., St. Joseph, Missouri. ********************************************************************** Mrs. Nancy Lykins, Section 26, Post office St. Joseph, was born in Cooper County, Missouri, March 28, 1820. She received a fair educa- tion and was raised in the country. She married Dr. C. B. Lykins, on June 1, 1837. He was born in Indiana, February 3, 1813. By this union they had twelve children: Andrew C., Mary V., Julia A., David A., John J., William C., Sarah E., Cynthia A., Emma V., James S., Charles R., and an infant who died when young. Dr. Lykins died July 3, 1878. By industry and economy he saved 160 acres of land, which is all under fence, with fair improvements and five acres of orchard. The doctor was two years in the Federal Army. He was a Mason.
