Biographical Sketch of J. J. McPoland, St. Joseph, Buchanan County, MO

J. J. McPoland, carriage manufacturer, was born February 24, 1852,
in Dubuque, Iowa, and was there raised, educated and graduated in the
carriage works of Tom Connelly.  He resided principally in the Key
City until 1877, when he came West, taking up his abode in St. Joseph,
Missouri.  He worked for a time as a journeyman, and then branched 
into trade, and is one of the best workmen in the state, and the firm
of McPoland & Farrell, is rapidly coming to the front.
