J. McPoland, carriage manufacturer, was born February 24, 1852, in Dubuque, Iowa, and was there raised, educated and graduated in the carriage works of Tom Connelly. He resided principally in the Key City until 1877, when he came West, taking up his abode in St. Joseph, Missouri.
