Biographical Sketch of Robert McCrary, St. Joseph, Buchanan County, MO >From "History of Buchanan County, Missouri, Published 1881, St. Joseph Steam Printing Company, Printers, Binders, Etc., St. Joseph, Missouri. ********************************************************************** Robert McCrary, cooper, was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, in 1817, and was there raised and learned his trade in that city. After ser- ving his time he opened a shop which he operated for a number of years. Then removed to Ohio, remaining some time, and returned to Pittsburgh, and after a short sojourn located in Zanesville, Ohio. In 1866, he went to Kansas and took charge of the government shops at Leavenworth. After which he was in other places until 1875, when he became a resi- dent of St. Joseph.
